Sashiko rice bag
Sashiko is a Japanese form of embroidery, originally used to darn worn garments.
This cushion design was adapted from a tapestry chart by Wendy Hope-Faulkner of One Off Needlework in the Jane Greenoff magazine “Stitch That”. I love the angels. The embroidery was stitched into a purchased cushion cover.
A lovely 2020 Christmas present, the kit was an ideal activity for lockdown 3. I adapted the pattern a little, making two narrow straps rather than the one strap suggested in the instructions. I also inserted a pocket and embellished the pattern with a Suffolk Puff with a button for the centre.
Cross stitch on linen, French design.
